Hocus Pocus 2, the long-awaited-by-some sequel to the 1993 fantasy comedy horror film rocking the same name, is best summed up with a stray fart joke. A newly resurrected Mary Sanderson (Kathy Najimy), one of the three nefarious Sanderson sisters (Salem witches whose 1600s reign of terror over the town ended by the noose) stumbles into a Walgreens. She and her siblings, Sarah (Sarah Jessica Parker) and Winifred (Bette Midler), are in search of provisions, and lured into entering the pharmacy by the film’s teen heroes. One by one they walk in. Mary, awed by the automatic doors, steps through and immediately, casually, unwarrantedly trumpets her flatulence. End scene. Farts are funny when they have a point. Hocus Pocus 2’s fart has no point. Mary farts because the filmmakers, producers, and ...

Oval Space, a staple of London’s music circuit, has had its license revoked after a man was allegedly shot on the dancefloor last month, Mixmag and Resident Advisor report. The 24-year-old victim was reportedly shot again on a street near the venue, but his injuries are not life-threatening. The popular east London club has a chance to appeal the decision within three weeks. A licensing committee that convened on Tuesday (September 27) sided with police, who mounted a case against the club based on the alleged dancefloor shooting, as well as less serious past disturbances. In the hearing, Oval Space apologized for its oversights and said it had fired the security company employed on the night, which allegedly failed to search a bag thought to contain the gun. Its nearby sister venue, Pickl...

Explore Explore See latest videos, charts and news See latest videos, charts and news Ahead of the premiere, both Teller and Lamar appeared in a series of playful promotional clips for the episode, in which the duo are standing alongside SNL favorite, Bowen Yang. Among discussions of odometers and Gilmore Girls gossip, the “Humble” rapper stayed pretty quiet. However, when the conversation came up about how everyone spent their summers, Yang went on a lengthy tangent about “making too many plans” and conversations about therapy and astrology. At that point, Lamar had enough, and followed Teller in walking...
Is a new Madonna album on the way? Well, the superstar appears to be cooking something up in the studio. “Back at it……..,” Her Madgesty tweeted Friday afternoon (Sept. 30) alongside four snaps of herself hard at work in the recording booth. In two of the pics, the singer is hunched over a laptop, transcribing her handwritten notes (or lyrics?), though whatever she was writing has been redacted. In another, she sits at piano, wearing sunglasses and fingerless black gloves with her pink hair in stark contrast to the instrument’s bright red finish. Just last month, Madonna released Finally Enough Love: 50 Number Ones, a remix collection of her record 50 chart-topping hits on Billboard‘s Dance Club Songs chart, ranging from 1983’s “Holiday” to 2019’s “I Don’t Search I Find.” The compilation ea...

When host Miles Teller and musical guest Kendrick Lamar take the stage at Studio 8H in New York for Saturday Night Live’s Season 48 opener on Saturday, Oct. 1, they’ll join a long and star-studded lineage. We took a look back to see who was booked as host and musical guest on the first episodes of every previous season of the show. These are considered plum bookings: Viewers often make an extra effort to check out the first episode of a season. As a result, producers go all out to open the season with a strong episode. For SNL, that means booking a hot host and musical guest. Legendary comedian George Carlin was host of the first episode on Oct. 11, 1975. There were two musical guests that night, Billy Preston and Janis Ian, both of whom had had big recent hits on the Billboard Hot 100. St...
