There’s more than one way to celebrate cannabis than lighting up. Earlier this year, New York legalized adult use of recreational cannabis, and one Las Vegas-based nightlife entrepreneur is readying his effort to bring the city a major cultural touchpoint in celebration of the plant. The House of Cannabis, or THCNYC for short, is Robert Frey’s project to turn a sprawling 30,000 square-foot space into an immersive museum that will explore the history of cannabis and spotlight the creative arts and culture it has influenced throughout the decades. Desperados is helping ravers dance towards a brighter future. Desperados, a subsidiary of the Heineken company, is the manufacturer of the world’s first tequila flavored beer and certainly no stranger to making the world feel in their element on the dancefloor.  However, the company recently found a new way to engage concert-goers with their Rave To Save app. The app incentivizes dancing by tracking the user’s steps and converting their steps into charitable donations. The initiative arrives in the wake of surveys conducted by Desperados, which revealed that 60% of respondents believe the party scene should be more active in supporting charitable causes. New York Film Festival has announced its 2022 lineup, and one of the most compelling premieres will be Martin Scorsese’s Personality Crisis: One Night Only, his documentary centering around a special 2020 performance by New York Dolls frontman David Johansen. Scorsese co-directed the feature with frequent collaborator David Tedeschi (The 50 Year Argument). They worked with cinematographer Ellen Kuras (American Utopia) to capture Johansen’s January 2020 set at New York City’s Café Carlyle.
