Bad Bunny has spent an eighth week atop the Billboard 200 chart with his album Un Verano Sin Ti. Released in May, the album climbed up from second position with with 108,800 equivalent album units, just 400 equivalent sales ahead of YoungBoy Never Broke Again’s The Last Slimeto, which debuted at No. 2 this week. (Though 400 album sales would have pulled NBA Youngboy equal with Bad Bunny, the equivalent number of paid streams of songs from the album would be 500,000.) In its 15 weeks on the chart, Un Verano Sin Ti has not left the top two. Rough Trade to Launch Free Festival Indieplaza at New York’s Rockefeller Center
Rough Trade has curated a new—and free—festival called Indieplaza, coming to the plaza at New York’s Rockefeller Center on September 17 and 18. For the inaugural bill, the venerable store and label selected A Tribe Called Quest’s Ali Shaheed Muhammad to headline, with Yaya Bey, Mary Lattimore, Claud, Horsegirl, Automatic, King Hannah, They Hate Change, and Cola among the others set to feature. Nation of Language will play a DJ set. The festival—co-presented by Rough Trade and Rockefeller Center—will also include a band merchandise market, music-making workshops, and food and drink from local businesses, according to a press release. Lizzo has released a music video for the song “2 Be Loved (Am I Ready)” from her new album Special. She co-directed the video with Christian Breslauer, who handled the visual for “About Damn Time.” The “2 Be Loved” video picks up where the visual for “Truth Hurts” left off, with Lizzo taking a solo drive in the desert. Solange Composes Score for New York City Ballet
Solange has composed a score for the New York City Ballet. Her piece for a chamber ensemble will accompany a ballet choreographed by Gianna Reisen. Solange’s music will be performed by some of her collaborators and also members of the New York City Ballet Orchestra. Solange and Reisen’s work will premiere on Wednesday, September 28, at New York’s Lincoln Center. The piece will be performed again on October 1, 8, 11, and 16 as well as May 2, 11, 13, 17, and 18. The show is part of the New York City Ballet’s Fall Fashion Gala, which pairs choreographers with designers. Solange and Reisen’s performance will feature costumes by Alejandro Gómez Palomo of Palomo Spain.
