On the heels of last month’s single release, “Multi-Platinum,” Cordae has shared two more new songs. “Unacceptable” and “So With That” are stylistically different tracks, but both hear the rapper reflect on his relationship to success and those around him. On the fast-paced “Unacceptable,” Cordae drops bars about grappling with personal trauma, including the deaths of his grandfather and close friends. In the second verse, he recalls a conversation he had with his father where he admits to struggling with depression, in spite of how others may perceive his success and Hollywood lifestyle. “I gotta get rid of this trauma, it’ll bring them demons with ya,” he raps. The Maryland rapper slows down on “So With That,” juxtaposing rap with an R&B sound. Harmonizing with a female vocalist, Cor...

Calling back to early aughts hip-hop, “SEX APPEAL” is a maximalist hit of braggadocio from BLACKSTARKIDS, as TheBabeGabe, TyFaizon, and Deiondre rap over blaring sirens and quirky percussion. “I’m up for the night, I don’t need a pill/ Don’t talk to me unless you got sex appeal,” the trio insist. In the single’s music video, they dance around a washed-...
A small girl sarcastically sang “JOE BIDEN TOOK OUR JOBS!” into a microphone while South Park co-creator Matt Stone laughed uproariously, Dean and Gene Ween provided backup vocals, Primus’ Les Claypool played bass and Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson of Rush sat silently smiling. The plumes of smoke emanating from the 9,545 fans jammed into Red Rocks Amphitheatre were especially thick at this moment on Wednesday night (August 10th). It was the second of two sold-out South Park 25th-anniversary shows, starring Stone and his partner, Trey Parker, as ringleaders of a circus in which Ween performed on stage left, Primus manned stage right and “Blame Canada,” “Uncle Fucka,” “What Would Brian Boitano Do?” and other profane “South Park” classics wafted from the middle. If the satire didn’t always come ...

As she gears up for the upcoming release of her sophomore album Traumazine, Megan Thee Stallion has hinted at the struggles of putting out music under her record label. On Wednesday evening, the Houston rapper jumped on Twitter to interact with fans and address the conflict, saying that she’s been “having to go to court just to put out [her] art.” Megan has been grappling with legal drama with her label 1501 Certified Entertainment. Earlier this year, she filed a lawsuit against 1501 alleging that the label claims that her October mixtape, Something For Thee Hotties, doesn’t meet the definition of an album and therefore doesn’t count towards the quota necessary to fulfill her contract. The rapper’s lawyers are reportedly arguing that Something For Thee Hotties meets the requirements of an ...
