The great return of Yeah Yeah Yeahs continues today with the New York City indie stalwarts’ latest single “Burning,” the next preview of their forthcoming album Cool It Down. Produced by Andrew Wyatt, “Burning” is pure disco-coated dance floor fuel. It’s driven by a vigorous piano riff, inspired by Frankie Valli’s “Beggin’” as well as Gloria Gaynor’s “I Will Survive.” The story of the song dates back to a fateful night when Karen O was 19: The vocalist had gone out for an impromptu drink with her roommate, and returned shortly after to find her East Village apartment engulfed in flames due to a candle she’d forgotten to put out. All her electronics, including her computer and cameras, were completely destroyed. “But oddly enough the items that held the most sentimental value rem...
Ezra Miller has been in the news a lot lately, and it hasn’t been about The Flash. The embattled actor has been arrested three times this year alone on charges of disorderly conduct, assault, and felony burglary, and they’ve faced accusations of grooming underage children and running a cult. Back in 2011, while filmi...
Marcus Mumford’s solo career has been deeply personal in way that Mumford and Sons rarely approached, starting from the very first lines of his debut single, “Cannibal”: ““I can still taste you and I hate it/ That wasn’t a choice in the mind of a child and you knew it.” Now, the folk pop powerhouse has opened up in a new interview with GQ, sharing some details about his path to mental wellness after childhood sexual abuse. “Like lots of people — and I’m learning more and more about this as we go and as I play it to people — I was sexually abused as a child,” Mumford said. “Not by family and not in the church, which might be some people’s assumption. But I hadn’t told anyone about it for 30 years.” Mumford first began dealing with that trauma in 2019, after the release of Mumford and Sons’&...
