Legendary punk act Descendents got some publicity they didn’t bargain for when a former spokesperson for the Oath Keepers wore the band’s iconic shirt to a January 6th committee hearing on Tuesday (July 12th). The band subsequently disavowed the extremist group in a social media post. Jason Van Tatenhove once served as the national spokesperson for the Oath Keepers but disassociated himself from the group long before the January 6th attack on the US Capitol in 2021. As Yahoo! Three men, including a curator for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, were charged on Tuesday, July 12th in an alleged conspiracy to sell Don Henley’s stolen lyrics to multiple Eagles classics, including “Hotel California,” “Life in the Fast Lane,” and “New Kid In Town.” According to TMZ, over 100 pages of Henley’s notes were stolen in the 1970s by an author hired to write a biography on The Eagles. In 2005, the author sold the notes, which were valued at more than $1 million, to rare books dealer Glenn Horowitz, who then sold them to Rock Hall curator Craig Inciardi and Edward Kosinski. The three men subsequently attempted to sell the manuscripts through Christie’s and Sotheby’s auction houses, and even worked to fabricate ownership records in order to “coerce” Henley, who reported them...

Irv Gotti‘s Murder Inc. and Kevin Liles‘ 300 Elektra Entertainment (3EE) have brokered a multi-year strategic distribution deal, Billboard has learned. Under the deal, which was signed Wednesday (July 6), 3EE will exclusively distribute physical and digital formats for Murder Inc.’s new recorded music. Decades after Don Henley’s handwritten notes and lyrics for the Eagles album Hotel California were stolen, Manhattan prosecutors have indicted three men who they say tried to profit from the illicit materials. Spotify has acquired Heardle, a music trivia game that challenges players to identify songs based on select snippets. Under the agreement, the free-to-play title will be available in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Ireland, Australia and New Zealand.
