After Pixar staff publicly accused the House of Mouse of censoring gay affection in their films last week, Variety has learned that a previously-cut same-sex kiss has been restored to Lightyear. Lightyear is a Pixar origin tale starring Chris Evans as the astronaut upon which the Buzz Lightyear action figure in Toy Story is based. Billie Eilish and her brother/musical partner in crime FINNEAS have shared the track “1 True Love” today, one of their multiple contributions to Disney and Pixar’s Turning Red. The new movie — whose protagonist is a 13-year-old girl named Mei who can transform into a giant red panda — features a fictional boyband called 4*Town, and the real-life pop duo were tasked with writing all of the group’s songs for the soundtrack. Like the previously-shared “Nobody Like U,” “1 True Love” puts FINNEAS’ vocals at the forefront. Marvel’s Black Widow Getting Same Day Release on Disney+ and in Theaters
After more than a year’s delay due to the pandemic, Marvel has finally decided to release Black Widow day-and-date on Disney+ and in theaters on July 9th. The movie will be available as a Premier Access stream, which means Disney+ users will have to pay an additional fee to watch. What’s more, Emma Stone’s live-action 101 Dalmatians prequel Cruella will follow the same distribution plan, coming to Premier Access Disney+ and cinemas on May 28th. Meanwhile, Pixar’s Luca will take the release path laid out by the Oscar-nominated Soul, going directly to streaming at no extra cost to subscribers on June 19th.
