Logan Paul Officially Owns Two of the Most Sought-After Manga First Editions on the Planet

Summary

  • Logan Paul has acquired extremely rare, highly graded first-edition chapters of the legendary manga series Dragon Ball and One Piece.

  • He spent a staggering $550,000 on a 9.2 graded copy of Dragon Ball Chapter One, the single highest-graded copy in existence (population 1), featuring the debut of Goku and Bulma.

  • In addition, Paul purchased a 9.0 graded copy of One Piece Chapter One for an undisclosed amount, marking the second highest-graded copy in existence and the first canon appearance of Monkey D. Luffy.

Logan Paul is adding yet another impressive asset to his rapidly growing collection of high-end memorabilia. Taking a brief pivot from his usual multi-million dollar Pokémon card acquisitions and dinosaur fossils, the influencer-turned-WWE superstar has officially ventured into the world of premium manga. On Tuesday, Paul took to X (formerly Twitter) to reveal that he secured highly graded first chapters of two of the most iconic anime franchises in history: Dragon Ball and One Piece, with the Dragon Ball issue alone setting him back a record-breaking $550,000 USD.

Showcasing his latest haul, Paul detailed the exceptional rarity of the two vintage manga issues. The crown jewel of the purchase is his Dragon Ball Chapter One issue, boasting an incredibly rare 9.2 grade. Standing alone as the single highest-graded copy in existence (population one), this historic issue marks the worldwide debut of the globally recognized characters Goku and Bulma, and it commanded the massive $550K USD price tag.

The second half of his haul is a copy of One Piece Chapter One holding a near-mint 9.0 grade, which Paul acquired for an undisclosed sum. This makes it the second-highest graded copy known to exist, with a population of just three. The pristine issue is a veritable holy grail for anime collectors, marking the first-ever canon appearance of the beloved pirate protagonist, Monkey D. Luffy. In his post, Paul accurately noted that One Piece stands as the number one selling manga globally, boasting over 600 million copies sold worldwide.

While some internet fans quickly debated whether the controversial internet star was a genuine fan of the legendary series or simply making another massive alternative financial investment, Paul remains steadfast in his collectibles-over-equities financial strategy. Proudly calling them the “greatest Mangas in the world,” Paul has officially signaled that his journey into top-tier manga collecting has only just begun.
