The space race is heating up once again, but this time, from the other side of the Iron Curtain. Apple TV+ has officially released a thrilling new trailer for Star City, an upcoming spinoff of the beloved alternate-history sci-fi drama For All Mankind. Described as a “propulsive paranoid thriller,” the new teaser highlights a dark, sinister edge filled with tension, betrayal, and high-stakes danger as the Soviet Union races to make history on the moon.
While the flagship series For All Mankind focused largely on the American perspective of an ongoing, never-ending space race, Star City flips the script entirely. The new show zooms in on the massive risks, secrets, and sacrifices made by the Soviet Union to become the first nation to successfully land a man on the lunar surface. The storyline dives deep into the secretive lives of the cosmonauts, the brilliant engineers behind the scenes, and the embedded intelligence officers operating within the Soviet space program.
Leading the charge is Anna Maxwell Martin, who stars as Lyudmilla Raskova, a senior KGB agent overseeing the ambitious operation. She is joined by House of the Dragon star Rhys Ifans, who takes on the crucial role of the project’s Chief Designer. The ensemble cast is further padded out by a strong roster of international talent, including Agnes O’Casey, Priya Kansara, Solly McLeod, Ruby Ashbourne Serkis, Josef Davies, Alice Englert, and Adam Nagaitis.
Created by original For All Mankind masterminds Ben Nedivi, Matt Wolpert, and Ronald D. Moore, the new series promises the same sweeping historical drama with an added layer of espionage and Cold War paranoia. The spinoff arrives on the heels of the recent announcement that the parent show, For All Mankind, will officially conclude its epic story with its upcoming sixth season.
Fans eager to return to this captivating alternate timeline won’t have to wait much longer to see the Soviet side of the story. Star City will officially debut its first two episodes on Friday, May 29, 2026, exclusively on Apple TV+. Following the premiere, the eight-episode season will release new episodes weekly every Friday, concluding with the finale on July 10, 2026.
