Over the weekend, Pitchfork published a lengthy report where four people accused Arcade Fire‘s Win Butler of sexual misconduct. On Aug. 30, the band kicked off their European tour in Dublin, with Canadian singer-songwriter Feist opening. At the show and following the report’s publication, she donated a portion of her merch proceeds to Women’s Aid Dublin, an organization that aims stop domestic violence in Ireland. In a lengthy statement posted on her social accounts today (Sept. 1), Feist announced that after two shows, she is dropping off the tour. At a pub in Dublin, after rehearsing with my band, I read the same headline you did. We didn’t have any time to prepare for what was coming let alone a chance to decide not to fly across the ocean into the belly of this situation. This has been...
Just a week out from the release of her sophomore album age/sex/location, Ari Lennox has shared a new EP. Away Message is out now via J. Cole‘s Dreamville Records and available for streaming. Spanning 5 tracks, the project is led by a duet called “Queen Space,” between Lennox and Summer Walker, bringing together two of R&B’s mainstays. The single will also be included on the age/sex/location tracklist. The other songs on Away Message are called “Tatted,” “Gummy,” “No Settling” and “Bitter.” While it’s a bit unconventional to put out an EP right before an LP drops, Lennox based the project around her going offline leading up to the album’s debut, serving as an “away message” to her fans. The singer’s full-length endeavor, age/sex/location, is out on September 9 and marks her first LP in...
[Editor’s note: The following contains spoilers through the Season 4 finale of Westworld, “Que Será, Será.”] The 2022 television landscape feels, sometimes, a little bit like the Wild West, as the chaos being experienced by the rest of the world trickles into the business decisions being made by men in Patagonia vests. This is why it’ll be exceptionally ironic if, after consistently keeping viewers on their toes for four seasons, Westworld never gets a chance to bring its cyberpunk Western story to its planned conclusion. The twisty mindfuck of a show, a riff on the 1973 Michael Crichton film created by Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy, wrapped its fourth season this month by literally ending the world — or, at the very least, the end of humanity. The curious case of Milli Vanilli is getting the biopic treatment. Today, LEONINE Studios has revealed the first look at Girl You Know It’s True, the forthcoming film about the infamous R&B duo. To get the youths caught up: Milli Vanilli, aka German dancers Fab Morvan and Rob Pilatus, were one of the most popular groups of the late ’80s and early ’90s — that is, until it was discovered that they had been lip-synching the entire time. The Struts lead singer Luke Spiller will perform “a couple of Queen songs with Queen” at the upcoming Taylor Hawkins tribute concerts in London and Los Angeles, the artist told SPIN‘s Lipps Service podcast for an episode debuting Sept. 5. “I owe so much of where I am right now to him, from getting the opportunity to open up for the Foos … even coming to L.A., and sort of laying roots down here, which, again, was life-changing, and probably something that I wouldn’t have done if he hadn’t encouraged it,” Spiller said of Hawkins, who died suddenly in Bogota, Colombia, in March. “So I owe him a great amount, and I kind of still do, with these shows that are coming up. I still kind of find it a bit ludicrous that I’m even considered to be on that bill, considering the lineup,” he continued. “I...
