Minutes before it was about to get underway, Pearl Jam’s planned show tonight (July 20) at Vienna’s Wiener Stadthalle has been canceled after frontman Eddie Vedder damaged his throat singing last Sunday at Lollapalooza Paris. “To all those who were anticipating a great Pearl Jam show tonight in Vienna, we were too,” the band wrote on social media. “However, due to the extreme circumstances at the last outdoor site outside of Paris (heat, dust and smoke from the fires) our singer Ed Vedder’s throat was left damaged. He has seen doctors and had treatment but as of yet, his vocal cords have not recovered.” “This is brutal news and horrible timing for everyone involved,” Pearl Jam’s statement continued. “Those who work so hard to put on the shows as well as those who give their precious time a...

The Afghan Whigs have released their new single “A Line of Shots,” the latest offering from the alt-rock band’s upcoming album How Do You Burn? The song stands as a reminder to embrace the competing fear and freedom that comes with facing a critical moment. Its adrenaline-boosting build and invigorating production echo the simmering anticipation of lyrics like, “Don’t wait too long/ The feeling’s gonna come in a wave.” Eventually, “A Line of Shots” explodes into a storm of sirens, shoegaze distortion, overlayed vocals, and the rapturous refrain of “Everybody get out of line.” Stream “A Line of Shots” below. R&B singer Ambré has released the music video for her track “I’m Baby” featuring Jvck James. From Ambré’s latest 8-song EP, 3000° which was released in June of 2022, “I’m Baby” offers up a sensual mid-tempo cadence that uncovers the emergence of love. Specifically, the song showcases where and when feelings develop before any formal titles come into play. “You rep me like your hood, I can’t escape/Responsibility, I’m sure you know how I feel (You know how I feel)/Cloudy skies open up when you call my name/Whether you mine or not/Tonight,” sing Ambré and Jvck James in the bridge. In the video, the two artists are seen around a picturesque brick home with palm trees, a tranquil in-ground pool and several dancers dressed in olive green. ‘”I’m Baby” is a song about being vulnerable and bei...

The Pitch: In the rolling hilly countryside outside Los Angeles city limits, the Haywoods — descended from the first Black horserider/stuntman/movie star to ever be captured in motion — try to make ends meet as Hollywood horse wranglers. But when the family patriarch (Keith David, radiant as always) dies from a freak accident, the task is left to introverted Otis Jr., or OJ (Daniel Kaluuya) to keep the family ranch afloat, with the reluctant help of his fast-talking, hustle-happy sister Emerald (Keke Palmer). At first, they resort to selling off the family horses to nearby Jupiter’s Claim, a hokey Wild West-themed amusement park run by former child star Ricky (Steven Yeun). But fortunes start to change when they realize there’s something above them, in the clouds, scaring the horses and sh...

Interpol’s debut album, 2002’s Turn On the Bright Lights, thrust them into the blistering limelight of New York indie rock and solidified their signature sound: addictively melancholy rhythms (“NYC”), gargantuan anthems (“PDA”), and despondent ballads (“Leif Erikson”). The band also embraced the mystery that enveloped them: They quickly became known for their earnest demeanor, monochromatic wardrobe, and lyrics that quested after ambiguity so badly they were borderline obtuse. (Was the subway ever really a porno?) Though Turn On the Bright Lights is routinely lauded as their best, subsequent Interpol albums have noticeably demonstrated their evolution. Antics showcased leaner and tighter songwriting, and much of their later work experimented with new textures (keyboards, strings, beats) an...
The last time SPIN spoke with composer Jason Graves, his work on The Dark Pictures Anthology’s third entry, House of Ashes, had just been released as the score to many gamers’ spooky Halloween title. But this time around, the multi-genre artist (who’s also scored everything from the Dead Space games to 2013’s Tomb Raider to Limited Run Games’ physical retail store) is back with a significantly less terrifying title. Moss: Book II, Polyarc’s sequel to 2018’s standout Moss, came to PlayStation VR headsets everywhere earlier this year, providing players with the next chapter of mouse protagonist Quill’s heroic journey. A few months after the game’s initial release, both the title and Graves’ soundtrack are getting new releases. With Moss: Book II coming to the Meta Quest 2 on July 21, the sco...
