Charli XCX’s ‘Beg for You’ Hits Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10

Charli XCX’s ‘Beg for You’ Hits Hot Dance/Electronic Songs Top 10

Charli XCX cruises into the top 10 of Billboard‘s multimetric Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart (dated April 2) as “Beg for You,” featuring Rina Sawayama, bounds from No. 16 to No. 10. The track boasts top Streaming and Sales Gainer honors, up 79% to 1.7 million official U.S. streams and 193% to 800 downloads sold, according to Luminate, formerly MRC Data.

It’s the seventh chart hit and third top 10 for Charli XCX, after her featured turn on Icona Pop’s “I Love It” (No. 1 for two weeks, 2013), and “Out Out,” with Joel Corry, Jax Jones and Saweetie (No. 9, 2021). “Beg” is the second entry and first top 10 for Sawayama; her collaboration with Lady Gaga, “Free Woman (Clarence Clarity Remix),” reached No. 20 last September.

Speaking of that month, “Beg” is built around Eurodance singer September’s “Cry for You,” which logged two frames at No. 1 on the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart in 2007. “Beg” also interpolates Milk Inc’s “Don’t Cry.”

“Beg” concurrently begins at No. 14 on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales, after it reached No. 30 on Dance/Mix Show Airplay earlier in March. The song is from Charli XCX’s pop album Crash, which debuts at No. 7 on the Billboard 200, marking her first top 10 on the chart.

Also on Hot Dance/Electronic Songs, Joel Corry, David Guetta and Bryson Tiller‘s “What Would You Do?” debuts at No. 12. Corry’s seventh appearance and Tiller’s second, the song is Guetta’s record-extending 63rd to hit the chart. (Kygo is next with 55.) The track opens with 1.7 million domestic streams and 1,100 sold, also good for a No. 7 bow on Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales.

Shifting to the Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart, Niiko & SWAE swing into the top 10 with “Typical Love” (14-9). The act’s first top 10 is tallying core-dance airplay at Music Choice’s Dance/EDM channel, WZFL (Revolution 93.5) Miami and KMVQ-HD2 San Francisco. (The Dance/Mix Show Airplay chart measures radio airplay on a select group of full-time dance stations, along with plays during mix shows on nearly 80 top 40-formatted reporters.)
