THE QUIREBOYS‘ founding frontman Spike has fired back at his former bandmates, saying that he has “no intention” of walking away from the group. After the British rock stalwarts announced last month that they had parted ways with Spike and “will continue as a five-piece with all other current members,” he responded with a statement of his own, saying that he had received “a letter from three of my band members informing me that my services are no longer required to sing or perform with them.” Earlier today, THE QUIREBOYS released a lengthy new statement in which they accused Spike of “refusing” to speak to them and “consistently declining” to meet and discuss band issues over the course of the past nine months. The teaser for Prime Video’s upcoming Josh Brolin vehicle, Outer Range, left us intrigued with its Yellowstone meets The X-Files vibe. With the arrival of the full trailer, the streamer has offered us a closer look at the mind-bending neo-Western series while providing more questions than answers. In the clip, a stranger named Autumn (Imogen Poots) shows up on a sprawling ranch owned by Brolin’s Royal Abbott. Soon after, she points out a symbol that she’s been drawing for years. It’s clear Autumn’s arrival spells bad news. “You stay away from her,” Royal tells his family. Meanwhile, Abbott has been trying to fight off the wealthy Tillersons, who have set their sights on his land. Amid that stress, he spots a mysterious black hole in his pasture that seems to have drawn the i...
Buzzy jam rockers Goose are about to release their long awaited new album Dripfield. Before we get the full LP in June, Goose have shared another single today called “Hungersite” along with an accompanying music video. While Goose have drawn a loyal following to their groovy psych rock, “Hungersite” cools things down a bit, layering breezy melodies over a vivid piano riff. Lyrically, the track wrestles with themes of self-worth and finding purpose in a society that tends to value productivity over true self-fulfillment. “Whenever broaching global commentary territory, even if discreet and non-invasive in nature, it seems important to simultaneously challenge awareness of the self, and how we may or may not be living up to the ideals to which we speak,” guitarist/singer Rick Mitarotond...
Nancy Meyers, one of the sharpest comedic voices of her generation, will return after a long hiatus to direct a new movie for Netflix. Meyers’ last film was 2015’s The Intern, which earned over five times its $35 million budget despite middling reviews (59% on Rotten Tomatoes). But the flick has a large and devoted fanbase that counts among its numbers Quentin Tarantino, who said it deserved an Oscar. Now, via The Hollywood Reporter, a 72-year-old Meyers is back to write, direct, and executive produce a new movie, though the title and plot details are being kept a secret. For decades Meyers reigned as the queen of the mid-budget comedy, having scripted such hits as Private Benjamin and The Father of the Bride before making her directorial debut with The Parent Trap...

RUSH guitarist Alex Lifeson, whose parents were Serbian immigrants from Yugoslavia, was asked in a new interview with Regina-Leader Post for his thoughts about what is happening in Ukraine right now. He responded: “When this all started happening a month ago, my mother said it was so shocking to her because she remembered when the Nazis came into her town in Serbia very early in the (Second World War) and how terrified they were and how brutal they were. It just seemed to go on and on and on. Then finally the Russians came and got rid of the Germans … and they were quite brutal in a different way. Any invading army is. We could say what the Americans did in Iraq was just as brutal as what we’re seeing. But this is so seemingly uncalled for, so medieval and so wrong in so many w...
Marcel the Shell is going from short film marvel to A24 star. The production company just shared the first trailer for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, which you can watch below. Alt-J swung by Jimmy Kimmel Live! last night to perform “Hard Drive Gold,” a cut from their new album The Dream. Check out the performance below. Thom Sonny Green, Gus Unger-Hamilton, and lead singer Joe Newman rocked out in front of a projection screen with geometric shapes floating across it, the most common type being golden blocks. The performers stayed relatively still behind their mics, but Newman put lots of energy into his voice, having loads of fun on the long, drawn-out “brr” when he sang, “Non-shatter ruler, put it on the table and go ‘brr’/ Watch it shatter.” Check out “Hard Drive Gold” below. Back in February, Alt-J appeared on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, where the trio performed the new song “U&ME” and the 2012 classic “Breezeblocks.” The ...
