HBO Max and DC Comics’ ‘Green Lantern’ Series Shifts Focus After Showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith Exits

DC Comics and HBO Max‘s much-anticipated drama Green Lantern TV series is changing its focus after being in the works since late 2019. The Hollywood Reporter has reported that the show will now be focusing on John Stewart, one of DC’s first Black superheroes, now that showrunner Seth Grahame-Smith has departed from the show. Grahame-Smith has already completed the scripts for a full season of eight episodes, which have all been focused on Guy Gardner and Alan Scott. The news comes after producer Greg Berlanti already announced the casting of Finn Wittrock and Jeremy Irvine for the respective Green Lanterns. ‘The Witcher’ Confirms Unreal Engine 5 Remake

Following the success of Cyberpunk Edgerunners, CD Projekt Red recently announced several new projects including a sequel to Cyberpunk 2077 codenamed “Orion,” an entirely new universe named “Hadar,” and several new Witcher games including a remake of its first The Witcher (2007) game which will be developed in Unreal Engine 5, the world’s most advanced and capable real-time 3D creation tool yet. Codenamed “Canis Majoris,” the remake was said to have entered pre-production in spring, marking the first remake of the series. After Henry Cavill made a special cameo in Black Adam to mark his return as Superman, the actor sat down for a live taping with MTV’s Josh Horowitz for his Happy Sad Confused podcast. James Gunn and Peter Safran Named Co-CEOs of DC Studios

James Gunn and Peter Safran have been named co-CEOs and co-chairmen of DC Studios, a newly-debuted production imprint that will lead DC titles for Warner Bros. Discovery. Under their new titles, Gunn and Safran will oversee all film, television and animation projects at DC Studios, reporting to Warner Bros. Discovery president and CEO David Zaslav. Both will officially enter their new positions on November 1. Back in July, the Duffer Brothers announced the newest project for their production company, Upside Down Pictures — a live-action adaptation of Death Note for Netflix. Recently, the Stranger Things creators confirmed Halia Abdel-Meguid as the lead screenwriter for the project. According to Deadline, Halia Abdel-Meguid is a fan of the original Death Note manga. As she had lived in Tokyo before, the screenwriter is also fluent in Japanese which will be a considerable asset when adapting from the source material.
