Bartees Strange has shared an Amazon Original cover of Freddie Gibbs and Schoolboy Q’s 2021 single “Gang Signs.” In a statement, Strange explained: “I covered ‘Gang Signs’ because Freddie Gibbs is one of my favorite artists and I thought this would be a cool format for the song.” He added, “This song is so gorgeous in a way that only Freddie could do. He always walks this line of being pretty hardcore lyrically, really pulls no punches. I love that about him—something I really admire. We could all use a little dose of Freddie from time to time.” Listen to Bartees Strange’s rendition of “Gang Signs” below. When G Jones releases new music, you stop what you’re doing and listen. The virtuosic bass music producer has released a new single, “Operator.” Jones introduced fans to the track over two years ago, when it appeared in his fan-favorite “REMOTE TRANSMISSION” mix. The glitchy song ultimately exploded in popularity among his fanbase, with many affectionately calling it “Ray Gun ID” as they clamored for an official release. “Operator” is simply par for the course for Jones, who is revered in electronic music circles as one of the scene’s most technically gifted producers. His groundbreaking approach to sound design is encapsulated beautifully in the blistering track, where gritty rave leads, acid-inspired bass and eerie arp...
Whoever said you shouldn’t mix business with pleasure obviously hasn’t met Pauline Herr and TWERL. These two partners in life and labor have hit gold with Distance, a new collaborative EP inspired by the lust, love and longing of their long-distance relationship. As if on a journey over oceans, its emotive soundscapes twist and turn, diving deeper with raw and relatable lyrics that share their story: “I’m scared to let you go / Why can’t you come with me? / Time’s moving too quickly,” Herr probes achingly on “Stay With Me.” The narrative of a long-distance relationship might indeed be a tale as old as time. But Distance is tender and touching, affectionate and anxious, in a way we haven’t quite heard bef...
Tapping on a CloZee song is like activating a portal. Each track is a gateway to a place on earth or a spiritual realm. Her Neon Jungle album was influenced heavily by CloZee’s time in the lush forests of Costa Rica. The flamenco elements of “Diabólico” originate in southern Spain. Her version of “Baiana” is rooted in the body percussion work and infectious rhythms of the Brazilian group Barbatuques. “Koto” is rife with Japanese influences, particularly the song’s namesake—the country’s national instrument. “A lot of those instruments are really tied to a memory of mine,” CloZee tells EDM.com. “A lot of countries I’ve visited. Like the shamisen or the koto. I really remember so many memories of going throug...
It’s Britney, bitch… and Elton. Britney Spears and Elton John have joined forces to reimagine “Tiny Dancer,” the latter’s iconic 1972 song, into a dance anthem. “Hold Me Closer” is the first new music from Spears following the end of her controversial conservatorship, which had inspired a full-blown movement spearheaded by fans. Produced by Andrew Watt, “Hold Me Closer” is a bubbly rush of house and nu-disco. John, who has long been enamored with electronic music, pulled a play from the playbook of “Cold Heart,” last year’s dance smash with Dua Lipa which spawned a chart-topping remix by Pnau. Take a listen to the new track below. Scroll to Continue Recommended Articles John has been open about his affinity for ED...
