Jerry Allison, drummer and a close collaborator of Buddy Holly, has died, as Rolling Stone reports. Holly’s official Facebook page publicly announced the news on Monday (August 22), with a statement reading, “[Allison] was a musician ahead of his time, and undoubtedly his energy, ideas and exceptional skill contributed to both The Crickets, and rock n’ roll itself, becoming such a success.” He was 82. Allison worked closely with Holly as a drummer and collaborator, first befriending the guitarist and songwriter as a teenager. Born in 1939, Allison grew up in the small towns of Plainview and Lubbock, Texas, cultivating an interest in music from a young age. He met Holly in middle school, and the pair remained friends through the rest of their school years, bonding over their shared musical ...

Since completing its April 8th merger, Warner Bros. Discovery has been on a cost-cutting frenzy, with an announced goal of finding $3 billion in savings. The process began when WBD axed CNN+ on April 21st, and since then the company has shelved Batgirl, removed over 200 classic episodes of Sesame Street, and iced dozens of upcoming projects — with a result that WBD has lost a total of $20 billion in market cap and counting. Importantly, this isn’t an apples-to-apples comparison. WBD is trying to save $3 billion in cash, while market cap is the stock market’s estimate of a company’s total value, found by taking the amount of stock in circulation and multiplying that by the stock’s price. And there are several other factors dragging down the stock, especial...
If at some point over the past year or so, you’ve found yourself overwhelmed by the number of TV reboots, then you’re not alone. Keegan-Michael Key, Johnny Knoxville, and Judy Greer play a trio of bygone sitcom stars in Hulu’s aptly-titled forthcoming series Reboot, which gets its official trailer today. Things have gone downhill for Reed Sterling (Key), Bree Marie Larson (Greer), and Clay Barber (Knoxville) since they starred together on the 2000s family sitcom Step Right Up: Reed’s studies at Yale’s drama school aren’t enough to book him good jobs, Bree can only book bad low-budget projects, and Clay’s mainstream acting career has been cut short by a number of drug-related arrests. Still, a younger sitcom writer (Rachel Bloom) is adamant on rebooting Step Right Up for Hulu...

Shortly after releasing her latest album Traumazine, Megan Thee Stallion is now seeking $1 million USD in monetary damages as she deals with a lawsuit against her record label 1501 Certified Entertainment. The amended complaint obtained by Rolling Stone states that the artist is seeking $1 million USD in damages after initially asking for non-monetary relief when the suit was filed in February, claiming that the minimum amount stems from 1501 refusing to give Megan her share of royalties from her music. She’s also asking a Harris County judge to classify both Traumazine and her October 2021 project Something for Thee Hotties as “an ‘album’ as defined in the parties’ recording agreement,” confirming that she “has satisfied all option periods” in the recording contract she signed in 201...
