Two killed as robbers attack bullion van in Ondo

Two persons were on Thursday feared dead at Elemosho Village along Akure-Ondo expressway in Ondo East Local Government Area of Ondo State when armed robbers attacked a bullion van on the road. An eyewitness said the robbers waylaid and attacked the billion van belonging to one the commercial banks. The bullion van according to the source was heading towards Akure, the state capital. It was gathered that the robbers made away with an undisclosed sum of money, while some people were also injured. The eyewitness said, in the operation which lasted for about 20 minutes, the robbers shot three people and ran away into the bush . Barely 24 after a first-class traditional ruler was murdered in Ondo, the wife of the Chief of Staff to the Ondo state governor, Chief Olugbenga Ale has been abducted by suspected gunmen. Vanguard gathered that Mrs Ale was abducted at Owena in Idanre council area of the state on Thursday night. A source said that the victim was returning from Lagos to Akure when she was abducted by the bandits who laid siege on the highway and took her into the forest. The Ondo State Deputy Governor, Mr Agboola Ajayi, has raised the alarm that his police escort has been withdrawn on the order of the state Police Commissioner, Mr Bolaji Salami. The deputy governor has been in the centre of the crisis in recent times after his defection from the All Progressives Congress to the Peoples Democratic Party. Some hoodlums on Sunday evening reportedly attacked the supporters of Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu, during a meeting in his hometown, Igboroko, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area of the state.
