Megan Thee Stallion Faces Off Against Herself in New “Her” Music Video

Hot on the heels of the release of her sophomore studio album Traumazine, Megan Thee Stallion has dropped off the official music video for one of the record’s leading tracks, “Her.” Directed by Colin Tilley, the black-and-white visual sees the chart-topper perform fast-paced choreography alongside an army of backup dancers and engage in a showdown with a clone of herself. “Her” is the third Traumazine track to receive a video, following “Sweetest Pie” with Dua Lipa and “Plan B.” Traumazine, which clocks at roughly 50 minutes, hosts 18 tracks and guest appearances from artists including Key Glock, Latto, Pooh Shiesty, Rico Nasty, Jhené Aiko, Lucky Daye, Sauce Walka, Big Pokey and Lil Keke. The record is expected to debut at No. 2, moving roughly 40,000 to 50,000 album-equivalent u...

Hit-Boy Says He Produced Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance’ Cut “Thique” 8 Years Ago

Beyoncé’s long-awaited seventh studio album, Renaissance, dropped late last month. In August 2021, the singer revealed that she had been working on the LP for about a year, though it wouldn’t be for about another year after that when she finally put out the project. While most singles on Renaissance were presumably recorded in the past few years, Hit-Boy says that one hit track, “Thique,” dates back to 2014. Speaking on Rolling Stone‘s Music Now podcast, the producer shared they were working on an early iteration of “Thique” in tandem with a different Beyoncé collaboration. The singer ultimately decided to shelve the beat but would go on to revisit it years later, eventually giving it a spot on her latest album. “I had to sit on that beat for eight years!” Hit-Boy said on the podcast. “Tha...

THQ Nordic Reboots ‘Alone In the Dark’ For Current-Gen Platforms

Horror fans will be delighted to learn that THQ Nordic is now rebooting Alone In the Dark for current-gen consoles and PC. The original game was first released all the way back in 1992 and THQ Nordic hopes to retain the core of its experience by bringing players back into the New Orleans of the 1920s, with the infamous Derceto Manor serving as the main setting once again for the title. Both protagonists Emily Hartwood and Edward Carnby will also return as playable characters and offer their own take on the game’s plot, although there’ll also be plenty of new influences on the reboot, including the addition of Soma and Amnesia: The Dark Descent writer Mikael Hedberg as well as long-time Guillermo del Toro collaborator Guy Davis, who’s responsible for the esteemed director’s m...

Adele Talks Canceled Vegas Residency: ‘There Was Just No Soul in It’

Adele has spoken in detail for the first time about the circumstances behind the January cancellation of her planned residency at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas, which will finally resume on Nov. 18. In an interview with Elle, the British vocalist admits “there was just no soul in” the show. “The stage setup wasn’t right. It was very disconnected from me and my band, and it lacked intimacy. And maybe I tried too hard to give it those things in such a controlled environment.” Many of the issues apparently stemmed from the Colosseum’s enormous, 15,7000-square foot stage. In the interview, Adele discusses sitting down and singing off-mic during the final dress rehearsal before the cancellation, an impromptu move that made her realize what was missing from the production. “They c...

A Woodstock Reminiscence

This week marks the 53rd anniversary of Woodstock — the music and art fair of 1969, originally announced as “An Aquarian Exposition,” which took place at Max Yasgur’s 600-acre dairy farm in Bethel, New York, after promoters couldn’t find a festival location in the town of Woodstock itself, a well-known haven for musicians at the time. I always think about Woodstock in August, because I was there. In 1969, I was 15 years old and my progressive parents (read: smart, but drug addled) bought me and my twin brother tickets for what would miraculously turn out to be an experience that unfolded in exactly the same way it was promised: 3 Days of Peace & Music. Could there have been other parents like my parents (is it even possible to imagine anybody can be like anybody else’s parents?) who ac...

Julia Michaels: Authentic, Honest & True

“I love New York,” Julia Michaels tells me, only a few minutes into our interview, from her Los Angeles home. Straight off, the singer and songwriter, who will turn 29 this year, is a lesson in dichotomies. She loves New York because it “feels communal,” in stark contrast to the place that Dorothy Parker once deemed “72 suburbs in search of a city,” a sentiment Michaels seems to echo. “LA is so spread out and nobody really walks here and it doesn’t…it doesn’t have the same liveliness, I think,” she says. In pursuit of an acting career, her father moved the family to California from Iowa when Michaels was a child, changing his last name professionally from Cavazos to Michaels in the process, a tradition she carried on. “I don’t think it’s the environment that makes humans, humans,” she wise...

LF System’s ‘Afraid to Feel’ Enters Week 6 Atop U.K. Singles Chart

LF System feels like a champion for another week, as the Scottish electronic production duo extends its chart reign with “Afraid to Feel” (via Warner Records). The disco-chaneling tune has now led the Official U.K. Singles Chart for six unbroken weeks, and it’s again the most-streamed single in the country, racking up more than 5.5 million plays, the OCC reports. “Afraid to Feel” holds off Beyonce’s “Break My Soul” (Columbia) which stays at No. 2 in its eighth week, for its equal best position. With its runner-up finish, Beyonce again misses out on a chart double as her LP Renaissance enters a second week atop the national albums survey.  The highest new entry on the latest U.K. singles chart, published Aug. 12, belongs to KSI and Tom Grennan with “Not Over Yet” (Atlantic) new No. 4. ...
