One Dead, Dozens Injured After Spain’s Medusa Festival Stage Collapses
High winds exceeding 51 mph caused part of the main stage at Medusa Festival in Valencia, Spain to collapse early Saturday morning (August 13), killing one person and injuring dozens, reports Reuters and BBC. Other infrastructure at the EDM festival was also damaged due to the extreme weather. The festival grounds were promptly evacuated afterwards and organizers have since canceled the rest of the event. One person was killed and more than a dozen others were injured after a stage collapsed at Medusa Festival in Valencia, Spain on Saturday. High winds exceeding more than 50 mph reportedly caused a partial collapse of the festival’s main stage, according to Reuters. “At around four in the morning unexpected and violent strong winds destroyed certain areas of the festival, forcing management to make the immediate decision to vacate the concert area to guarantee the safety of attendees, workers and artists,” festival organizers said in a statement. One person is dead and 17 are injured after a staged collapsed at the Medusa Festival near Valencia, Spain. As CNN reports, three of the victims are in serious condition. The tragedy took place Saturday morning at 4:18 a.m. local time, officials said. “Due to a strong gust of wind, the main entrance and the main stage of the Medusa Festival in Cullera fell to the ground,” said a spokesperson.
