Singer-songwriter Katy Nichole‘s launch single “In Jesus Name (God of Possible)” stretches its domination atop Billboard‘s streaming-, airplay- and sales-based Hot Christian Songs chart to a 20th week (on the list dated Aug. 20). “When we wrote and recorded ‘In Jesus Name,’ my prayer was that the Lord would use this song to bring peace and hope to others,” Nichole tells Billboard.
The song rebounds to the chart’s top spot, after it spent 19 consecutive weeks at No. 1 beginning on the March 26-dated tally. Nichole co-wrote it with Ethan Hulse, David Spencer and Jeff Pardo, the latter of whom also produced it solo.

I’m humbled and reminded, once again, of God’s greatness and power.”

Nichole records for Centricity Records, with whom she signed in June 2021. The label credits her Aug. 4 performance at Colorado’s Red Rocks Amphitheatre for helping spark the song’s latest gains, as it wins top Streaming and Sales Gainer honors on Hot Christian Songs. Following the show, which was sponsored by Christian radio network K-Love, a video from it, posted Aug. 8, of her performance of “Name” has scored over 70,000 likes.

The 22-year-old Nichole, from Mesa, Ariz., first gained traction by posting videos on social media. She currently boasts almost 450,000 TikTok followers. (Views on Instagram and TikTok do not currently contribute directly to Hot Christian Songs.)
“Name” is the first song released this decade to top Hot Christian Songs for at least 20 weeks. Nichole’s Centricity labelmate Lauren Daigle’s multi-genre smash “You Say” is the longest-leading hit in the chart’s history: 132 weeks (July 2018-August 2021).
Only six songs have reigned for 20 weeks or longer, dating to the list’s June 2003 inception:

Notably, five of those six tracks prominently feature female vocals. In addition to Daigle, Carrie Underwood and Nichole, Hillsong UNITED’s Taya Smith is the lead vocalist on “Oceans” and Brooke Ligertwood of Hillsong Worship sings lead on “Beautiful.”
Meanwhile, Nichole’s sophomore single, “God Is the Story,” with Big Daddy Weave, pushes 14-12 on Hot Christian Songs for a new high. It also rises to a new No. 12 best on Christian Airplay (4 million impressions, up 15%).
