My Chemical Romance Release First Song Since 2014

Nearly two-and-a-half years after playing their only reunion show in Los Angeles (before that whole COVID thing), My Chemical Romance have released new music. Titled “The Foundations of Decay,” the six-minute song is the band’s first new track since 2014.

Despite the reunion (and subsequent pause between shows), it was never clear if My Chemical Romance intended to release any new music. That question is now answered. The song is a welcome return, with its blend of emo and post-hardcore.

If you go way back to March 2020, My Chemical Romance were one of the first artists to postpone their tour due to the COVID pandemic. But if you kept your tickets, your patience will have paid off. My Chem returns to the road later this month in the UK and Europe, and will return stateside on August 20 in Oklahoma City. The run also includes headlining spots at Riot Fest in September and October’s emo-centric When We Were Young festival in Las Vegas

My Chem’s most recent album, Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys, was released in 2010. A greatest hits package was released in 2014.
