Watch Wet Leg’s Retro New Video For ‘Ur Mum’

Wet Leg has released their last single before their self-titled debut album. The group has been building up a strong catalog of singles since last June for their forthcoming project.  “Ur Mom” is available along with an accompanying video before the full album’s release on Friday.

The Isle of Wight band brings in feelings of impatience with the slow pace of life on their island small town, while also being a self-described “diss song” directed at Teasdale’s ex-boyfriend.

“I was pretty angry at the way things had gone in this particular dynamic,” Teasdale said. “It’s just a diss song I wrote to make myself feel better. It worked.”

“The ‘Ur Mum’ video was all about bringing the viewer into the Wet Leg world – sprinkling details throughout the visual that not only reference at least 4 songs off the album but also plenty of inside jokes within the band too,” Video director Lava La Rue said. “Artistically it shows where the aesthetic of American indie films like Napoleon Dynamite fit perfectly in the scape of rural British settings – this concept first came to me when the band took me to IOW for the first time – I saw the connection and it all clicked into place.”

Rhian Teasdale and Hester Chambers–the duo that makes up Wet Leg–have seen rapid success since they began releasing music a little less than a year ago. Since then, the duo has gotten 40M global streams and 9M YouTube views on their releases so far. Before the release of their debut, the band has already finished up extensive touring in North America including SXSW showcases, a YSL Academy Awards pre-party, performing on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon and The Late Late Show with James Corden.

The forthcoming album is available for preorder here.
